Kolhapur, May 22, 2011: The final round of the JK Tyre– MMS Rotax Rookie Cup 2011 concluded amidst scintillating performances from racers across all categories at the Circuit 09, Kolhapur. After a closely contested opening round held at Hyderabad earlier this month, a fierce battle was expected as top contenders in Senior, Junior and Micro Max category looking to push the limits through the five races scheduled for each category throughout the weekend.

The leaders in each category definitely had the upper hand at the start of the weekend and the trend continued as they charged unabated through the weekend to seal their dominance in their respective categories.

In the Junior Category, however, Gaurav Rajan Davare from Mohites Racing drove well away from the competition allowing no one close enough to jeopardise his title hopes. With an almost perfect run in the opening weekend, the Pune lad managed to carry the momentum into the finals, scoring victories which added 100 points to his kitty, taking up his tally to 220– finishing miles ahead of second–placed Ajay Uppu and third place finisher Ananth Shanmugam– the Bangalore boy falling out of the reckoning despite his strong opening weekend in Hyderabad.

The winners of the 3 Classes in the Rookie Cup will be rewarded with free Tyres and free Training Programs amounting to Rs 1 Lakh per winner.
