Kolhapur, May 22, 2011: The final round of the JK Tyre– MMS Rotax Rookie Cup 2011 concluded amidst scintillating performances from racers across all categories at the Circuit 09, Kolhapur. After a closely contested opening round held at Hyderabad earlier this month, a fierce battle was expected as top contenders in Senior, Junior and Micro Max category looking to push the limits through the five races scheduled for each category throughout the weekend.

The leaders in each category definitely had the upper hand at the start of the weekend and the trend continued as they charged unabated through the weekend to seal their dominance in their respective categories.

In the Micro Max category, Gaurav Rakesh Marnedriving for Mohites Racingcame into the final round as the tally leader with a solid 120 points with second placed Akash Gowda trailing 15 points behind. However, Bangalore lad Gowda got no chance to sneak past the Kolhapur driver as Gaurav continued his streak and a bunch of top notch performances saw him score another 115 points through the weekend– taking his total to 235 and cementing his position as the category leader. Second–placed Kevin Lazarus finished second with 171 points while Akash Gowda managed to rake up 147 points and a third place in the standings.

The winners of the 3 Classes in the Rookie Cup will be rewarded with free Tyres and free Training Programs amounting to Rs 1 Lakh per winner.
