Kolhapur, May 22, 2011: The final round of the JK Tyre– MMS Rotax Rookie Cup 2011 concluded amidst scintillating performances from racers across all categories at the Circuit 09, Kolhapur. After a closely contested opening round held at Hyderabad earlier this month, a fierce battle was expected as top contenders in Senior, Junior and Micro Max category looking to push the limits through the five races scheduled for each category throughout the weekend.

The leaders in each category definitely had the upper hand at the start of the weekend and the trend continued as they charged unabated through the weekend to seal their dominance in their respective categories.

In the Senior Category, Delhi boy Karminder Singh from Meco Racing was leading the points table with 104 points coming into the final round with second–placed Mithun Ganatra in second with 72 points. The 32–point cushion proved vital for Karminder as Mithun managed to turn in a string of sterling performances through the weekend, closing the gap rapidly. The battle went down to the wire with Karminder managing to edge out the Pune lad only by two points, racking up a total of 181 to Mithun´s 179– consequently clinching the Senior title. Another Delhi boy, Siddhant Panda– driving for Rayo Racing, finished a distant third in the overall tally with 149 points.

The winners of the 3 Classes in the Rookie Cup will be rewarded with free Tyres and free Training Programs amounting to Rs 1 Lakh per winner.
