Bengaluru: Round 4 of the JK Tyre FMSCI National Rotax Karting Championship, India’s highest level of Karting, continued in Bengaluru in sunny conditions. The state-wide bandh threw proceedings out of gear yesterday & racing resumed from heat 2 onwards, today.

The championship attracts entries in 3 categories, the senior for drivers aged 15 & over, the junior for drivers from 13 to 17 & the Micro for drivers aged 7 to 12.

The Junior Category saw a lot of action and excitement as Mohammed Nalwalla of Rayo Racing finished 1st in Heats 1 & 2 in spite of pressure from the others, putting him on pole for the Pre-finals. In the Pre-finals, he started well & soon built up a huge lead between him and the other racers. In a shocking turn of events, Mohammed’s engine seized a few laps before the end of the race, forcing him to retire, and giving Manav Sharma of BPC Racing the top spot. In the finals however it was Rayo Racing’s Mohammed Nalwalla who impressed the huge audience starting 15th & last on the grid and steadily worked his way up to 3rd as he overtook 12 competitors. In 1st was Manav Sharma of BPC Racing, followed by Akash Gowda in 2nd.

In Senior prefinals, Ricky Donison of BPC Racing finished ahead of Rayo Racing’s Nayan Chatterjee & Mohite Racing’s Dhruv Mohite. The Senior Finals – Rayo Racing’s Ameya Bafna showed great skill and climbed from last all the way up to 3rd, securing the fastest lap with a time of 54.347. He finished just behind Rayo Racing teammate Nayan Chatterjee who also raced brilliantly and consistently through the weekend. Ricky Donison of BPC Racing who dominated the weekend, won the race with ease.
