JK Tyre FMSCI National Rotax Karting Championship
Mohammed, Ricky, Shahan win Heat 1
Bengaluru: The JK Tyre FMSCI National Rotax Karting Championship moved to Bengaluru for Round 4 of India’s highest level of karting. After the first 2 rounds in Hyderabad, the series moved to Coimbatore before coming to Bengaluru for Rounds 4 & 5. The statewide bandh threw proceedings out of gear, but the young karters from all over India were undeterred, as the organisers eventually postponed heat 2 to tomorrow.
The championship attracts entries in 3 categories, the senior for drivers aged 15 & over, the junior for drivers from 13 to 17 & the Micro for drivers aged 7 to 12.
In the Junior category, Rayo Racing’s Mohammed Nalwalla from Mumbai qualified on pole (first position) with a best laptime of 54.691. He was closely followed by local racers, Akash Gowda & Yash Aradhya of Meco Racing.
In Heat 1, Mohammed made a good start and opened up a huge gap between him and the rest of the racers. The Rayo Racing driver eventually won the heat ahead of Meco Racing drivers - Nirmal Umashanker & Abhirath Shetty.
In the Senior category, Ricky Donison from Bengaluru of BPC Racing secured pole after qualifying with a laptime of 54.631, just ahead of Rayo Racing’s Ameya Bafna of Mumbai. Kolhapur lad, Krishnaraaj Mahadik of Mohite’s Racing was 3rd. In Heat 1 Ricky & Ameya maintained their position on top, while Dhruv Mohite finished 3rd.
In the Micro Max category Heat 1, it was Shahan Mohsin of Agra who rose to the number 1 spot, with Meco Racing teammate Nikhil Bohra of Bengaluru in 2ndand Ruhaan Alva of BPC Racing in 3rd.
Mohammed, Ricky & Shahan will start on pole for Heat 2 tomorrow, in the Junior, Senior & Micromax categories respectively.
