Vishnu Prasad on Pole for Race 1 of JK Tyre Volkswagen Polo R Cup 2011 Round Three at Irungattukottai Race Track in Sriperumbudur, Chennai
Chennai, August 20, 2011 – Vishnu Prasad produced another solid performance at Irungattukottai Race track in Sriperumbudur, Chennai to claim the Pole Position for Race 1 of Round Three of the JK Tyre Volkswagen Polo R Cup India 2011, with the best lap time of 2:02.684. He was closely followed by Avdumber Hede with a best lap time of 2:03.137. The second row of the grid was completed with Mihir Dharkar and Ajay Kini on 3rd and 4th position respectively.

The championship leader Vishnu Prasad driving the #22 car claimed the Pole position on his 3rd lap while this turned out to be the best qualifying session in the season for the rookie driver Avdumber Hede in car #02 who will start second on the grid. For the first time in the Polo R Cup in India, we will have 3 women drivers on the grid including 2 international guest drivers. Maiken Rasmussen from Denmark on her first visit to the race circuit stunned the field to qualify in 8th position while Natsha Seatter from Malaysia qualified in 17th position.

Speaking on winning the Pole Position, Vishnu said, "Qualifying was really good and I managed to set my fastest time on my 3rd lap. It feels good to be back in Chennai as I have always enjoyed racing at this track. With the hot weather here the race should be interesting as we will all have to manage our tyres well. Being on pole is important and I am confident that I will capitalize on it in the race tomorrow."

Avdumber Hede from Goa was second on the grid just five tenths of a second slower from the leader. Avdumber said, "I am thrilled to have qualified in 2nd position. This is a new track for me and to be positioned 2nd will definitely give me an edge against my other fellow drivers tomorrow. With only three rounds left in the season it´s now crunch time. I need to fight for a place on the podium and gain as many championship points as I can."
