Indian Superbike 600cc – National Superbike & Motorcycle Championship – Round 3 Chennai, MMRT Track
It was a surpise to see the current champion Rajini be off the pole for this race as he used a new suspension upgrade which he tested in the qualifying. The pole man was none other then Deepak who is leading the championship post the Coimbatore Round as a result of Rajini´s crash.
Race 1
Rajini cleanly showed his superiority and experience in this big class over his young compatriot Deepak who started on pole. Team MotoRev India´s man Rajini overcame Deepak of Preethi Racing and won the race with a comfortable margin of 10secs. Gautham finished in 3rd just 0.9secs off the 2nd placed man.
Race 2
The race started with Deepak crashing on the ´Sighting lap´ and making it to the grid just in time for the formation lap with mud and minor damage to his bike´s tail piece. Race 1 podium finisher Gautham Mayilvaganan was missing from the grid as he broke his right arm in the Honda CBR 250 race on Saturday.
On the lights Deepak managed to make a flying start and get the lead but not too long before the much experienced Rajini overtook him on the entry to the final corner of Lap 1 and started to getway to make an eleven seconds lead over Deepak. 2009 champion Rohit Giri who was on a new bike compared to Race1 managed to finish 3rd.
