Bengaluru karters shine on Day 1 of the JK Tyre–MMS
Rotax Kart Open 2015
Bengaluru, May 23, 2015: Bengaluru witnessed some adrenaline pumping karting action on Day 1 of the JK Tyre Rotax Max Kart Open 2015 was held. Organized by Meco Motorsports, the event was held at Bengaluru’s brand new karting track –Meco Kartopia. It was an actionpacked day with young and experienced karters going full throttle to seal their place &emerge as overall champions in their respective categories.
At the end of the day’s proceedings as all the racing action concluded the following are leading the pack in the JK Tyre–MMS Rotax Kart Open
Micro Max – Nikhil Bohra from Bengaluru, Meco Racing leading with 40 points followed by Ruhaan Alwa from Bengaluru, BPC Racing with 33 points. Shahan Ali Mohsin from Agra, Team Meco Racing finished today at 32 points.
Junior Max – Akash Gowda from Bengaluru, team Meco Racing with 38 points followed by
Aaroh Ravindra from Mumbai, team Rayo Racing at 37 points. Mohamed Nallwalla from Mumbai, team Rayo Racing at 31 points.
Senior max – Ricky Donision from Bengaluru, team BPC Racing is at 40 points followed by Ameya Bafna from Mumbai, team Rayo Racing is at 35 points. Arya Chirag Gandhi from Mumbai, team Rayo Racing is at 30.
In the JK Tyre–MMS Rotax Rookie Cup, the following are leading the score sheet:
Micro Max – Ruhaan Alwa from Bengaluru, team BPC Racing is at 40 points followed by Aditya Swaminathan from Bengaluru, team Meco Racing is at 34 points. Akshay Bohra from Bengaluru, team Meco Racing is at 32 points.
Junior Max – Manav Sharma from Faridabad, team BPC Racing is at 32 points followed by Aanjan Patodia from Pune, team Rayo Racing at 30 points. Nirmal Umashankar from Chennai, team Meco Racing is at 29 points.
Senior max – Mohammed Zain Ali from Bengaluru, team BPC Racing finished at 40 points followed by Charith Gunawardena from Sri Lanka, team Meco Racing at 35 points.
Prathamesh P Deshai from Kolhapur, team Meco Racing at 29 points.
It was a bright & sunny day at the Kartopia track & over 40 young karters from across the country including 10 karters from Bengaluru were all set to race in their maiden outing of the track. They represented six teams under three different classes: Micro Max, Junior Max& Senior Max. This year the event also has participation from three Sri Lankan drivers who are racing with Team Meco Racing in the junior & senior max categories.
The day started off with the official practise session followed by the qualifying sessions of all categories. In the qualifying round of day one, Bengaluru boy Nikhil Bohra (Meco Racing,1:07.249) took the first place in the grid in the Micro Max category. Mohamed Nallwallafrom Mumbai (Rayo Racing, 1:01.007) & Ricky Donison from Bengaluru (BPC Racing,1:00.779) from the Junior Max and Senior Max category respectively seized the pole position as they thrilled the crowd with their racing skills.
JK Tyre–MMS Rotax Kart Open:
In the first race Agra boy Shahan (Meco Racing) was leading throughout, however he was overtaken by Nikhil Bohra (Meco Racing) towards the end of the race who bagged the firstplace in Micro Max category. Shahan finished second and he was followed by Chirag
Ghorpade from Bengaluru (BPC Racing) who secured the third place. In the Junior Max category, it was a clean sweep by Aaroh Ravindra (Rayo Racing) from Mumbai. He was followed by Bengaluru boy Akash Gowda (Meco Racing) and Manav Sharma (Faridabad, BPC Racing) who came second and third respectively. Ricky Donision in the Senior Max category
who started from pole position dominated in the first race of the day. Ameya Bafna from Mumbai (Rayo Racing) finished close securing second place. He was followed by Nayan Chatterjee from Mumbai (Rayo Racing) who placed third.
The crowd cheered as Nikhil Bohra from the Micro Max category posted the best time in race 2 again. This young lad was followed by Shahan and Ruhaan Alwa who placed second and third respectively. The excitement among the crowd continued to soar as the Junior Max category race began. Bengaluru Boy Akash Gowda emerged as the top runner. Aaroh finished second in this race as well followed by Mohamed Nallawalla who secured third place. The highlight of this race was Mira Erda. The only girl in this championship, Mira started at 15 position but managed to finish at 5 position showcasing her excellent racing
skills. Ricky Donision enthralled the crowd with his racing action as he completed the lap fastest and emerged as the top runner in the Senior Max category again. Ameya Bafna and Arya Chirag Gandhi placed second and third respectively.
As race 3 began, the excitement had completely gripped the audience. The young boys from Micro Max category raced in full enthusiasm under the hot sun. It was a fight from start to finish of the race. Nikhil Bohra clocked the best time securing first place. Ruhaan Alwa finished close and came second who was followed by Shahan. The participants in Junior Max category raced fiercely and saw Akash Gowda securing first place followed by Mohamed Nallwalla and Aaroh Ravindra. Ricky Donision retained the first position. Ameya Bafna and Charith Gunawardena secured second and third place in Senior Max category respectively. Nikhil Bohra secured the first place in the final race of the Micro Max category as well which didn’t come as a surprise since he was performing excellently from the beginning. He was followed by Ruhaan Alwa and Aditya Swaminathan. Aaroh Ravindra came first and he was
followed by Akash Gowda and Manav Sharma in the Junior Max category. In the Senior Max category, Bengaluru boy Ricky Donision placed first again and Arya Chirag Gandhi clocked the second best time. Ameya Bafna finished third in the race.
JK Tyre–MMS Rookie Cup 2015:
In the Rookie cup category, Ruhaan Alwa of BPC racing clocked the best time in the first race of Micro Max category. He was followed by Akshay Bohra and Aasityansh Kaulshi who secured second and third places respectively. In the Junior Max category, Faridabad boy, Manav Sharma of BPC Racing secured first place and he was followed by Aanjan Patodia
who finished very closely. Nirmal Umashankar of Chennai secured third place. Mohammed Zain Ali from Bengaluru and Charith Gunawardena of Sri Lanka gave each other a tough competition however; Zain Ali won the first round. Gunawardena secured second place followed by Brayan Perera another racer from Sri Lanka who finished third.
Race two was all the more exciting as the crowd continued to cheer the racers. Ruhaan Alwa finished first again. He was followed by Aditya Swaminathan who came second. Akshay Bohra, the youngest boy in this racing event impressed the crowd with his driving skills at such a young age. He secured third place in the Micro Max category. In the Junior Max
category Sherwin Cruz from Bengaluru of Indian Karting secured first place. Aanjan finished second again and he was followed by Surya Senthil from Chennai. Zain Ali had a comfortable win in this race as well. The Sri Lankans, Brayan Perera and Charith Gunawardena followed
him.
Ruhaan Alwa continued his winning streak as he crossed the finish line first again in race 3.
Aditya Swaminathan finished at second place and he was followed by Aadityansh Kaulshi from Pune of Rayo racing in the Micro Max category. Nirmal, who had secured third place in race one finished first in this race under the Junior Max category. Aanjan and Manav came second and third respectively even after Manav got a ten second penalty for jump start. In the Senior Max category, Zain Ali reigned his supremacy. Charith Gunawardena crossed the line second and he was followed by Nipun Majumdar from Hyderabad of Meco Racing.
In the final race, Ruhaan Alwa from the Micro Max category finished first. Aditya Swaminathan and Akshay Bohra finished second and third respectively. In the Junior Max category Manav clocked the best time. He was followed by Nirmal Umashankar and Debarun Banerjee. The proceedings in the Senior Max category saw Zain Ali securing first
place as he raced through the track leaving the audience stunned. Charith Gunawardena from Sri Lanka finished second and the winner of JK Tyre Motorsport digital contest Prathamesh P Deshai from Kolhapur secured third place.
