June 21, 2014: Round 2 of India´s biggest domestic racing championship, the 2014 MMSC–FMSCI National Racing Championship (NRC) got underway in Chennai today. 16 year old Tarun Reddy won the MRF FF1600 race but his win is under investigation. Feroze Khan continued his stellar form from last year to take both wins in the Indian Junior Touring Car championship while Arjun Narendran won in the Indian Touring Car race. Ajay Kini managed to hold off S Narendran to the take victory in the first race of the year.

In the first race of the weekend, defending champion Feroze Khan got his 2014 Indian Junior Touring Car season off to the perfect start with a convincing win in Race 1. Feroze got off to a great start and had a great battle with Dr. Senthil for 3 laps before the latter retired. From there on he comfortably led to take the first win of the season. Behind him Fahad Kutty fought his way to 2nd place after a close battle with 3rd placed finisher Ashish Ramaswamy.

Race 2 of the day saw the Indian Touring Cars in action with Arjun Narendran on pole position. Arjun had a great start and held on to the lead ahead Ashish Ramaswamy and B Vijaykumar. Arjun had a perfect start to finish race and won comfortably ahead of Ashish and Vidyuth Iyer, who got past Vijaykumar with 3 laps to go. In the first ever Super Stock category race Bala Vijay won ahead of Joel Joseph and Kashif Kapadia

Race 3 of the day saw the LGB Formula 1300 on track. Ajay Kini took a commanding win ahead of last year´s LGB Formula F4 champions S Narendran. Chetan Korada and Goutam Parekh had a great battle for 3rd with Chetan finishing ahead. It was a scary moment for the only woman on the grid Sneha Sharma whose car went flying up in the car but came down safely.

The IJTC category was back on track for the next race of the day with the reverse–grid with person finishing in 4th place starting on pole position. Sidharth B had a good start with Fahad Kutty right next to him as they headed into the first corner. Both drivers came together in corner 8 and went off track losing valuable places. This put Ashish Ramaswamy in the lead with Race 1 winner Feroze Khan all over him. Feroze made his move on Ashish on lap 4 and made it stick putting him in the lead. Feroze held on to take his second consecutive win of the day. Ashish finished in 2nd place ahead of Gokul Krishna.

The final race of the day saw the MRF FF1600 with 16 year old Tarun Reddy on pole position ahead of Vikash Anand and Advait Deodhar. Tarun had a slow start and cut across Vikash forcing him to back off. Tarun from there was unbeatable as he set fastest lap after fastest lap to take the chequered flag with ease. Behind him Advait Deodhar finished with Lee Keshav pipping Siddharth Trivellore to 3rd place on the final lap. However after the race Tarun was under investigation for forcing Vikash Anand off the track at the start. The matter with Tarun Reddy and Vikash Anand at the start is under investigation with the stewards as this went to press.

In a bid to further attract Corporates and sponsors and reach more fans MMSC has signed up with a host of partners for the NRC.
