Vishnu, Diljith emerge hat–trick heroes at JK Tyre Racing
Coimbatore, June 1:Chennai’s Vishnu Prasad stamped his class on the first round of the JK Tyre Racing Championship 2014 by winning a hat-trick of titles in the JK Racing India Series, the feature event of the competition, which concluded at the Kari Motor Speedway, in Coimbatore on Sunday.
Racing in the FB 02 class, Vishnu brooked no opposition from the rest of the talented field, driving with class and precision and holding clean lines on the sharp turns to enthrall the goodly Sunday crowd that had turned out to watch the event, which has been granted National status by FMSCI.
Kerala lad Diljith T Shaji, of Dark Don Racing was equally impressive in the Formula LGB4 category, emulating Prasad’s feat by also claiming a hat-trick of titles.
Vishnu continued from where he had left on the opening day, winning the second race of the FB 02 series even after a poor start. With AkhilRabindra getting the jump on him, Vishnu recovered to overhaul the rest of the field and finish the 15 lap race in a time of 16:35. 338. Rabindra came home in second place, 4.538 seconds adrift, while KrishnarajMahadik was third 7.055 seconds behind.
The third race in the series also saw a start to finish winning performance from Vishnu, with Rabindra and Mahadik following in his wake, the hat-trick of wins eliciting praise for his driving skills from all quarters. Vishnu touched best speeds of 116.038 and 115.724 respectively in the second and third rounds and also had the best lap timings.
The two Formula LGB 4 races also threw out interesting duels like on Saturday, but a confident Diljith remained focused to achieve his goal of winning a triple crown.In the first event this morning, he had a poor start, but pushed the pedal to make up the loss of seconds and gradually overhauled the leaders.
The second race in the afternoon saw him get off to a solid start and he was never under any kind of pressure as he sped to his hat-trick. Teammate Sudarshan Rao also came up with consistent performances to finish second in all three races. AmeyaBafna of Rayo Racing, finished third in the second race of the series, while Vishnu Prasad of Meco Racing, took his first podium, finishing third in the third race of the series.
