Chennai, September 30, 2012: Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. (HMSI), the only Honda in India successfully conducted Round 4 of ´MMSC–SIDVIN FMSCI National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2012´ at the Chennai Motor Race Track, from 28th–30th September, 2012 for the 5th consecutive year.
New excitement across all Categories
In its refreshed format, the ´Honda One Make Race´ tests the riding capabilities of participants in three broad categories of races – Novice, 2 Open categories and the New Team category.
Bringing intense excitement and adrenaline to the race, CBR 250R category has reached new popularity levels as a Team Championship. In the new format, Honda has leased 10 CBR 250R performance bikes to teams registered at FMSCI. Excluding the engine and chassis of CBR 250R, teams can make any modifications to enhance vehicle performance. Honda is further supporting the participating teams with Original Spare parts worth Rs.10,000 and set of tyres replacement per round.
Providing a unique racing platform to Novice riders less than 23 years is popular 110cc CB Twister while riders above 23 years can now directly participate in the 2 Open category CBF Stunner and CBR 150R Championships.
Over and above ´Honda One Make Race 2012´, Honda is also providing CBR 150R with original spares support on lease for Group B, Group C and Group D of ´National Motorcycle Racing Championship´.
Honda One Make Race – Round 4 Overview
Overall, 88 riders participated in Round 4 of Honda One Make Race. Honda´s flagship Team race for CBR 250R Championship emerged as the highlight of the Round with new entry of 600cc National Superbike Champion and India´s Fastest Rider K. Rajini for the first time and witnessed intense competition, close finishes between the participating 9 expert racers.
A total of 12 participants qualified in the 150cc ´CBR 150R´ Championship while the 125cc ´CBF Stunner´ Championship race saw 21 participants out of the 25 entries received. CB Twister cup saw 42 participants in qualifying races of which the best 20 participated in the final race. Participants were judged in their respective categories, of which Top 3 racers were awarded attractive cash prizes (1st–Rs.7500, 2nd–Rs.5000, 3rd–Rs.2500).
Honda organizes ´Mega Safety Camp´ for over 600 customers
Honda also engaged over 600 customers and spectators with its Mega Safety Camp held at the race track. Spreading the message of "safe riding", Honda organized a mix of practical and theoretical exercises through various Fun, Safety riding and Gymkhana activities.
147 Participants enjoyed slow riding (an activity that aims at enhancing bike balance), while the highly popular Gymkhana activity (a ´fun´ riding activity for enhancing rider maneuverability & road–sense) saw 41 participations at Round 4 of Honda One Make Race, 2012. Aiding 293 first time riders with overall balance, Honda set up its riding trainers which simulate various traffic, road and weather conditions so that riders can develop a healthy road sense.
Providing experience and education on two–wheeler & road safety, 66 kids learnt first–hand about safe riding with the CRF–50 model while 28 females were given female safety riding tips.
Participation in Asia Dream Cup
To promote riders and develop riding skills Honda Motor Company, Japan has initiated the Asia Dream Cup Motorcycle Racing Championship. In this Championship, every Honda Company within Asia is sponsoring 2 riders each compete for top spot in Dream Cup on CBR250R.
In line with the same, HMSI has sponsored 2 riders (Mr.Gautam Mayilvaganan & Mr.Deepak Papineni) with helper to participate in the Championship. With 4 rounds already conducted in Malaysia, Indonesia, China and Japan, the remaining 2 rounds are to be held at Taiwan (12–14 October) and Qatar (14–16 November).
Upcoming Fun Expansion activities
Giving a unique opportunity to learn from the masters of Moto GP, HMSI is slated to conduct the 2nd round of Honda Racing Training School for Expert riders at Chennai race track on November 1–2, 2012. Expanding Fun Culture in India further will be the Final Round 5 of Honda One Make Race, 2012 to be held from December 21–23, 2012 at Chennai.
