Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship Round 4 Day 1 Report
– Rajini takes dominant victories in the 600cc and 250cc
– Triple podium finish for Rookie MD Intekhab Alam
Chennai, September 29, 2012: Round 4 of the 2012 MMSC – Sidvin FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship got off to a great start with K. Rajini and Sumit Lucas Toppo continuing from where they left off last round with a win in their respective categories. This weekend once again saw over 240 bikes on circuit putting down their flying laps in Qualifying ahead of the 9 Races that took place today.
The day started off with the TVS One Make Championship, with the TVS Apache RTR 180 Novices on track for the first Race of the day with Abdul Wahab of Chennai taking a hard fought win over MD Intekhab Alam of Jharkand and Rahul Rathod from Yavatmal.
Race 2 saw the Honda One Make Championship display their CBR 250cc bikes in the Open category and K Rajini fended off former Moto 3 rider Sarath Kumar to take a closely fought win and his first win of the weekend. M Gautham finished in 3rd place to complete the podium.
The Honda´s featured once again in Race 3 with the CB Twister Novice category which saw Jharkhand´s MD. Intekhab Alam cross the line in first place ahead of Meka Vidhuraj of Andhra Pradesh and local boy Mithun Kumar coming home in third.
The Group C 165cc Open category was once again the highlight of the day with Sumit Lucas Toppo (Performance Racing Team) from Ranchi emerging on top ahead of the Chennai boys, Shyam Shankar and Dinesh Kumar, taking 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
The Yamaha One Make Championship was up next with YZF R15 Novice race where Ramesh Kumar from Chennai closely edged out MD Intekhab Alam, who got his third podium of the weekend, and Akash C from Chennai in third.
The TVS Apache RTR 180 open category saw the closest race of the weekend with Vivek Mani beating P. Ananth Raj by 0.001secs in a photo finish. Rajesh Rathina Kumar took third place, less than half a second behind the leading pair.
K Rajini continued his dominant display in the championship when he comfortably won the Group A (imported) Super Bikes upto 600CC. His lights to flag win ahead of his teammate M. Gautham and Preethi Racing´s R. Deepak further extended his lead in the championship.
In the Group D 130cc Novice category, local lad Abdul Wahab finished ahead of championship leader Kamlesh Thakur from Jalgaon of Sparks Racing and K.Y Ahamed of TVS Racing.
In the final race of the day, the Group D 165cc Novice class, K Jagan finished ahead of Shyam Shankar and Sudhakar Kesavan.
The riders will be back on track once again tomorrow with a total of 14 races still to take place before the action packed Round 4 of the MMSC–SIDVIN FMSCI Motorcycle Championship comes to a close.
