R Deepak wins 2011 title with Race 1 & 2 victory at round5 in Chennai

Race 1 (Saturday)

The final round of the season started with a 2 way championship battle between Deepak and Jagan who are separated by just 1 point. Deepak started on pole with Jagan and Sarath alongside him. At the start it was Jagan who took the slingshot and took the lead into C1 but the unstoppable Deepak managed to get the better of Jagan at the back end of the track.

Deepak started to pull away leaving Jagan and Sarath to fight it out behind. Unfortunately Jagan lost it on lap 2 and was out of the race crashing his championship hopes. Deepak won the race and sealed the championship with a blistering new circuit lap record (1.55.684) for this category. Sarath finished second and Deva Kumar finished third.

Race 2(Sunday)
With the championship already sealed by Deepak in the previous race, it was just a race for personal pride. At the greens it was Deepak who went into the lead followed by Jagan and Sarath. On lap 2 Sarath dropped down to fourth but regained back his position and then caught up with Jagan. It was a fantastic duel between the two as the MotoGP–125cc exposed Sarath gobbled up little Jagan. The speed Sarath carried out of the corners were unbelievable as the pace was easily noticeable with naked eyes. It was just a matter of time for Sarath to get ahead of Jagan, so he did in the next few corners.

The new champion Deepak won the race from the outgoing champion Sarath (2010) who finished 2nd. Jagan was third and Deva Kumar got injured a short while after the start.
