Hat-trick for Ajay, Krishnaraj, Shanmugan and Karmindar Singh also wins in JK Tyre Racing Championship day 2
It turned out to be a great weekend in the second round of the JK Tyre Racing Championship at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. He bagged the third race in the Formula LGB 4 category and made it a hat-trick of wins on Sunday.
In a grid of 21 cars, only 13 finished as the other eight cars spun off the track and the safety car had to be deployed. It was a closely fought battle between the top eight for the podium. Twentysix-year-old Kini made the correct moves and in the end took the chequered flag. Raghul Rangaswamy started fifth and finished behind Kini.
Diljith TS had a brilliant start and within few laps he had managed to make his way up to the top ten. With every lap, he pushed his way up the field and finished third.
The day started with the JKFB02 race and Krishnaraj Mahadik was starting on pole due to the reverse grid format in the JK Racing India Series. Mahadik was overtaken by Vishnu Prasad after the very first lap but on lap 3, Mahadik made his move and passed Prasad and maintained his lead to the chequered flag. Prasad was given tough competition by Kush Maini, who was racing wheel to wheel with him and waiting for an opportunity to overtake. However he was unable to. Clearly disappointed by Saturday’s performance, Akhil Rabindra came back with a bang and made his way to fourth place after starting from eighth. Having the safety car out because of a few spins worked in Rabindra’s favour as he closed in on Maini. Once the safety car went back in, Maini’s car faced mechanical problems and Rabindra overtook the former Karting graduate Mahadik eventually won the race.
Race 3 of this series was closely fought. Bangalore boy Ananth Shanmugam registered his first win in the JK Racing India Series. Shanmugam, who has graduated from the JK Tyre National Karting Championship, started from pole position and led from start to finish. The battle behind him was very close with four cars fighting for the remaining two podium spots. Vishnu Prasad made Shanmugam work for the win as they raced bumper to bumper in the last two laps. Shanmugam managed to keep his pace and finally took the chequered flag. Prasad finished second and Karthik Tharani (Chennai) finished third. .
Delhi boy Karminder Singh got back to the top step of the podium with a win in the JK Tyre-Volkswagen Vento Cup. Singh had a great start from sixth on the grid. He slowly pulled away from the rest of the pack and crossed the line in the first place. Finishing second was Ishaan Dodhiwala from Hyderabad and Anindith Reddy Konda finished third.
