Chittesh Mandody wins the National ´Senior´ Rotax Max Karting Championship 2011
Chittesh Mandody, the 18yr old boy from Kolhapur wins the National ´Senior´ Rotax Max Karting Championship 2011. This CIK/FIA & FMSCI approved championship organized by Meco motorsports and sponsored by JK Tyre, has around 6 rounds across 4 cities from May till October every year.
As the final round which was to be held at the Noida F1 circuit next month got cancelled, the 5th and 6th rounds was combined together in Hyderabad which will decide the championship.
Chittesh made a clean sweep of the first 3 rounds and created a huge lead in the points table. Close contenders for the championship were Sandeep and Vishnu Prasad. Vishnu, the VW Polo Cup championship leader, after experiencing the worst 3 rounds ultimately won round 4 moving ahead in the points table to 4th from 7th.
Chittesh won the race on Final 1 and made safe third on the final 2 to clinch the title. Vishnu had a bad day after hitting a kerb hard while trying to catch Chittesh in the lead in Race 1 and was pushed to the back of the field in Race 2 after having a bang on the first lap. He managed to get down and restart his kart to rejoin the race to finished 6th.
Vishnu ultimately finished the championship in 2nd place and Sandeep of Formula LGB Swift fame made it to 3rd in the point table.
Chittesh commented "I was waiting for this moment for a long time and wanted to be national champion in this series. Last year was bad and this year we bought a new frame and hoping for the championship and I´m happy that I won"
